School is the Worst

0
by Jaden aged 10

I wake up and my brain realises that I have to go to school
I really hate school, especially spellings
School really isn’t cool
Every time it’s PE my legs start trembling

I really hate school, school is the worst
I always want to escape
Every time is see my friends they make me want to burst
I want to make an excuse like I got hit by a rake

I really hate school, school is the worst
I have to write so much
Lesson after lesson, and I’m still bored
Every time I’m in the playground there’s so many things to touch

If I was the headteacher I would not make anyone do work
Of course there is homework which is just cruel
I wish I was sick every day so I didn’t have to come
So this is why school is the worst

Sunflowers and Roses

1
by Dan Massey aged 11

If roses
tried to be sunflowers
they would lose their
beauty,
and if
sunflowers tried
to be roses
they would lose their
strength.

When You’re Home

3
by Alex aged 7

when you’re home
you feel alone
nobody knows who you are
when they check you hide
but when you come home
they will have a party just for you
when the last one left
you will be happy
you watched a movie
you have friends

Sailors

by Daniyal aged 8

Are men in ships like us
Who rest and sleep into the nights?
Or like white fluffy sheep slowly flowing across the skies,
Even if a wind swept the sails?
Where and what we wouldn’t know
For the compass we have doesn’t show
When the sea like our minds calm will be
Of the troubles and toils from which we’ll be free

In the middle of it all, the desire,
The hope that at last the sight will be real
Sand-filled shore beyond this vast sea
If afloat we will be on that horizon
The dry land we’ll once again step on

Above, the moon is saying something
Much more of an old age adage
A truth that’s true
That even I in my years alive hasn’t changed,
The meaning of such men,
That all, like time, must pass on,
On to the stars above and beyond,
Changing shapes as they go, but still yet as clouds remain.

Imagination

Your Imagination runs wild, free
Spinning with thoughts
Good and bad
Wishing they were real
Your silly Imagination

Blossoms

by Roisin O Tuathaigh aged 10

Watch them blossom
watch them bloom
some as big as a balloon
some as small as a pebble
but no one could meddle
with their scent
as it is meant
to bring joy

Stupid Covid

by Roisin O Tuathaigh aged 10

Covid 19
Is so mean.
It locks you
Like a poor caged pup.
Stuck in a room
With your own gloom.
PCR test
What a big pest.
Why do we care
It’s in the air!
I have it
With my mom.
Stuck at home
This is so wrong!

Hedgehog

The prickly little hedgehog
goes slowly on his way,
he comes out in the evening
and often sleeps by day.
He’s a gentle little fellow
who does no harm at all.
But if you try to hurt him
he’ll curl up in a ball.
