Miss Nobody

by Jia aged 11

I feel like a nobody
For nobody is there
All they do is look away
Or stare
The scar on my face is covered with my hair
But sometimes I feel like it’s there
I’ve had more surgeries than how many sips of water I’ve had
The wrinkles on my face make me look like an old man
I can’t make any friends
They won’t even talk to me
My glasses have the strongest lens
They just make me look like a freak
I look in the mirror everyday
And say “I will never be a pretty girl one day.”

Somebody could be hiding

Summer Joys

by Medhaswi Kundu aged 8

The sky was cloudless,
The grass tickled my feet,
Was there a better day
To enjoy the summer heat?

Rabbits hopped, plants grew,
Bees buzzed, birds flew.
They didn’t run away, made me part of the crew.
I couldn’t wait to see what they’d do!

Time ran and joy filled my soul,
In the distance I saw a little foal.
I didn’t want the moment to end,
Next time I could perhaps bring a friend!

My heart desires,
I have grown so fond,
I hope summer won’t be long
Then I can go again to visit the combe!

A Peek into My Life

6
by Vir Chawla aged 8

My mother helps her niece bloom like a flower,
She bakes cookies faster than a cheetah!
My dad is as strong as an elephant,
He is a house, keeping us safe in the night!
My friend has pride like a lion,
He is truly as cool as a cucumber.
My choice of food is as unique as a diamond vase..
My favorite color blazes like fire.
Orange keeps smiling at me, like a sloth.
The idea of a metaphor about school sparked nostalgic fire in my head,
Because I feel like I am as young as a baby ever since I joined school.
My family has a population as big as Nepal,
And they all live clustered together, in a medicine chest!
I want to go to America as much as a dog wants a bone,
It is truly an absurd time zone!

My Friends and All That Jazz

0
by Chelsea aged 10

My friends are cool
My friends may like chocolate covered gummies
They like too chit chat and all that jazz

My family is great
Brother not so
Parents are fabulous
I love them like snow and all that jazz

Painting is cool
writing is brilliant
but mine not so
Laughing out loud and all that jazz

A Scene from the Past.

A scaly dinosaur hugs the golden sun
A vibrant blue pool of splashing water
A phoenix rises from the ashes
A goliath- sized footprint cracks into the earth
