Nature’s Conversation

Said the Dragonfly: “Bumblebee, Bumblebee, what are you doing?”
Said the Bumblebee: “Dragonfly, Dragonfly, ol’ chap, I’m just flying.”
Then the Dragonfly noticed a buzzing sound.
Said the Dragonfly: “Bumblebee, please explain that buzzing sound which is ever so loud.”
Said the Bumblebee: “Dragonfly, that is just the sound I make, it’s natural.”
Said the Dragonfly: “Well, I guess you don’t know all!”
Said the Bumblebee: “Don’t worry, don’t fret! Please ask questions, it’s healthy!”
Said the Dragonfly: “Bumblebee, please understand that my brain is not wealthy,
with knowledge all the time.”
And the two flew on, feeling smart and just fine.

My Favourite Animal!

My favourite animal’s fur always gleams,
That’s because it licks itself clean.
My favourite animal runs at high speeds,
It isn’t a dog, it’s never on a lead.

My favourite animal likes to sleep,
It can jump very high, that’s called a leap.
My favourite animal will purr and purr,
It also has a tail it likes to curl.

My favourite animal can get fleas,
It loves to sharpen its claws on trees.
My favourite animal naps most of the time,
Don’t forget, it loves to climb.

My favourite animal will meow,
If angry, it will frown.
My favourite animal has sharp hearing,
If it wants something it will start pawing.

What’s my favourite animal?
Yes, it is tameable.
You can get it as a pet,
And it can jump off like a jet.

There’s plenty for you

Rainbows

1
by Yuvanthikha Rajmohan aged 10

Color after color, layer after layer,
Of joy, of good omens, of beauty,
Where people see good in the darkest of times,
As rainbows always form after the darkest of rains,
Gazing at the spectacle,
Science and logic leave me,
A fascinating phenomenon,
Beyond the boundaries of science,
The possibilities are endless,
Imagination takes over,
Where does it go?
Where does it start?
Perhaps I may never know,
Is there a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow?
Or can you slide down one?
I perhaps may never know,
Red, orange, yellow, green,
Blue, indigo, violet,
The first colors that a child learns,
And the sign of heaven, of eternal peace,
At the birth and death of everyone,
But rainbows always fade away,
Like how good times always have limits,
But I can always say to the next generation,
And the next, and the next,
That I saw a rainbow.

Roses are red
Violet are blue
And that’s why everybody loves you.
High in the sky
Down on the ground
It’s you in the middle loud and proud.

Make the World a Better Place!

Make the world a better place
Tragedy is something we face
Recycle your plastic
Make the sky fresh and clear
Start walking and give your legs a work out
Don’t make the world worse
Because you are making our challenges harder
Life will be easier for you and me
If us humans stop littering
And that’s the main key
So, let us make the world a better place
For the 8 billion of us in the human race

Books are good to read
because you get smarter by reading a book.
Also Books gives you inspiration,
take you to another world.
If sometimes you have nothing to do,
take a book!

Once in a Time

Once in a time
I wrote a lovely poem
But then a boy tore it up
And now I am weeping.
I wanted to hurt him
But I never found him again.

My Greek Dream

I see a pink Pegasus beside me
With glittering wings
And I think who is she?
I see a white unicorn
With a majestic spiraling horn
And I think who is he?
I go home
I see a giant monstrous 4 headed hydra
And I think who is…Ah!
I see a head popping out through the roof
Trying to rip me
For a midnight feast
Trembling with fear
I opened my eyes
Gazed at the roof
“Phew, no hydras, Pegasus or unicorns.”
Mum shouted, “You are late for school! Come downstairs
to eat your breakfast!”

Flowers

flowers get picked
but only the nice ones,
what about us humans
do only the nice ones get picked?
what happens to the flowers that are left
they wilt and die sadly
what happens to the humans that are left
they live a long or short life,
we don’t deserve to be left out
at the end of the day flowers are flowers
and humans are more than just humans
they are special and unique
treat everyone with respect and kindness!
