I Wonder…

I wonder when I will get a job
I wonder what I’ll be when I’m older
I wonder when I will have my first kiss
I wonder how many children I will have
I wonder where I will live when I am older
I wonder what age I will live till
I wonder when I will get my first boyfriend
I wonder if I will ever go to Florida
I wonder how long it is until I get my first job
I wonder what poem I will write next
I wonder when I will finish this poem

Christmas
Fun, bright, happy
Gifting, decorating
Christmas is a great time of year
Christmas

Useless Excuses

by Ruiqi Li aged 12

The vast forest
The place we call modest
Growing smaller and smaller
While we earn every dollar

The birds fly away
And we sit there waiting for doomsday
But it is closer than we think
One day everything will be gone in a blink

As we wait for a change
Others declare outrage
If we don’t try
The world will run dry

Let us create a better future
So, get off your computer
Go change the world
As there is no third

Core of Christmas

0
by Durga Nagpal aged 11

It’s the core of Christmas
Competitions to see who has the best Christmas tree
Wine and gingerbread
Ice skating and fairs

Counting the number of the presents you have
Throwing a tantrum because my brother got more presents

Ice skating
Not trick or treating
Christmas fairs and decorations
Fruit cake and hot chocolate

Wow this is the core of Christmas
In 1887

Nothing Understandable

by Layla Balt aged 11

Space is low
But the sky is high
Out there is someone who wants to try
Out there
In now
Something big
Something small
We don’t make at sense at all
Bring me an egg
Bring me a turtle
This is the mind
Being written
Algorithm to life
Will never fail
Let’s all bring a nice big smile

War Isn’t a Game

0
by Riley Lord aged 12

War isn’t fun, war isn’t a game,
War is endless and not all fame.
You won’t get to rest all day and night,
But being a soldier you need to fight.

You might think that this is fun,
But once you join, it can’t be undone.
Please listen to my words,
Or even talk to the birds.

Don’t join the war, it’s not glorious.
It’s a horrifying experience,
And I am being serious.
Take my advice,
so you don’t have to pay the price.

I’m Late For School!

0
by Livia MacVicar and Thalia O'Reilly aged 11

Mum I’m late for school, I’m gonna miss the bus!
It’s not a big deal, no time to discuss
I’ve got a test today, I don’t want to be late
And my school is half way across the state.

Don’t worry I’ll get you there
I forgot where your school is, can you tell me where?
It’s up the hill, to the left
we have to beat the bus, it’s a contest!

Don’t worry, we will get there on time
We are gonna go fast, it’s a crime
Mum, I think I have a headache
Wait mum, I forgot, It’s Christmas break!

Why War?

0
by Natalia Guzman aged 11

Why war?
An endless fight,
A monotonous feeling,
And it’s never right.

Why war?
It’s truely foul,
Glorification of death,
Sounds of bombing howl.

Why war?
Families suffer,
Separation of families,
No respect for each other.

Why war?
To die for your country?
Why do people encourage murder?
And pay for the mistakes of the monarchy?

Why war?
If you don’t enlist you’re a ‘coward’
But if you do you’re dead, not empowered.

Who Am I?

1
by Rana aged 11

Who am I?
That is a good question.

I sometimes stick out
Sometimes blend in
Sometimes I am
Just within
Sometimes I’m bright
Sometimes dim
Sometimes out
Sometimes in

I am sometimes high
Sometimes low
Sometimes dark
Sometimes I glow

Sometimes happy
Sometimes sad
Sometimes joyful
Sometimes mad

Sometimes I’m brave
Sometimes scared
Sometimes willing
Sometimes dared.

Wow! Sometimes a lot
Sometimes none
So many feelings
To just pick one
