Whale Song

0
by Scarlett Holloway aged 6

Whales are singing, and dancing too
Hear the song that fills the sea with music
A whale’s song fills your heart with glee
Lovely whales sing a tune not like any other
Everybody dances to the whale’s song

Trees

by Lucy aged 8

Trees are good,
They supply us with food –
Paper, chairs, tables and more!

Trees are our friends,
We need them to live!
A crucial part of our Earth,
I love trees,
And soon you will see,

That the chair you’re sitting on,
May have been a tree!

Trees are amazing,
And now you can see
Why trees are useful!

They stretch their long arms out,
And grab a bird,
Swaying and dancing galore!

Trees are like us,
They can feel, touch and cry,
Though we may not hear it or see it it’s here in our heart.

So go help a tree,
We need them to live.
Our Earth is so pretty
Because of the trees.

Yet we take them for granted,
We use them for things,
What if they used us for that?

You don’t think about their feelings,
And even if you do,
We still chop over and over,
gather again,
Chop, gather, and burn.

Rhymes

by Sophie aged 10

It’s easy to rhyme!
I do it all the time!
And if you can’t do it,
You should commit!
Commit to trying,
Or you’ll never learn,
Rhyming’s amazing!
‘Oh, but what can I earn?’

You can be a poet!
Did you know it?
You’ll be called ‘lit’
Oh, never quit!

Rhyming isn’t hard,
I used to disregard –
How good I was at rhyming!
I learned that at the wrong timing,

Rhyming is fun!
It’ll help you a ton!
No it isn’t dumb,
Oh, just come!

Have I convinced you to rhyme?
All of the time!
Maybe you are a poet!
And if it wasn’t for me,
You would never know it.

Think Inside the Box

0
by Milly aged 10

The ocean is a box full of fish,
A fridge is a box full of food,
A fountain’s a box full of wish,
My mind is a box full of mood.

A book is a box full of words,
A library’s a box full of books,
The sky is a box full of birds,
Heaven’s a box full of good.

So yes, it’s good to think outside the box,
But sometimes to imagine,
It’s easier,

To just place it in a box,
Imagination can be,
thinking either,
Or thinking neither.

The Awful Weather

by Matilda aged 12

I hated the way that the wind

Slapped my face and whipped my hair

I hated the rain that got me soaked through

If the weather was real I’d give it a glare

Christmas Time

by Chris aged 9

Summer’s gone away, winter’s coming this holiday.
Christmas pantomine, at this season, I don’t know why the reason.
Christmas dinner, wear your own clothes, dinner and dessert as sweet as a rose.
Christmas party, dance to the beat, dance all the way down to your feet.
School party, eating and playing, no money to buy crisps, no paying.
Christmas Day and Christmas Eve, all the nice things, Mr Steve.
Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve, all the presents given from Santa. CHEERS!!!
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!!!

Outside My Door

0
by David Ajayi aged 12

A hot bright morning,

A freedom fighter’s presence is located outside my door.

A cold dark night,

My sister says a Terrorist is lurking outside my door.

A warm blurry afternoon,

my brother says a police enforcer is waiting outside my door.

It seems to be on a shivering snowy evening,

a refugee is trembling outside my door.

I open the door and offer him some hot chocolate.

Earth Pains

0
by Hugo Sinclair

The Earth is in pain
There is no gain
We will all suffocate
The oil, trees and plastic are all the bait
The oceans and seas and lakes are all filled with waste
The Earth cannot be replaced
What will you do when the Earth will be a desert?
You gotta put in the effort
You have to make a change
You gotta speak out against Climate change
One change at a time
Will make the environment reunite
Take this chance
Take this opportunity
We are all in this together as a community
This task requires our unity
You gotta try
Or else we’ll all die
We’ll all stand by
We’ll all have to comply
You might think the world is fine
But the truth is we don’t have much time
We have to try and survive
So let’s make the Earth thrive

The Lighthouse of my Soul

0
by Akshara Vasanthan aged 9

The lighthouse of my soul,
Gone, where do I go?
It makes me want to howl,
I want you back right now!
Who will take care of my garden of yew?
And where should I be without you.

Oh, the lamp of my life,
How will I thrive?
My grove of yew,
Is the grave of you.
Goodbye!

Summer

by Myshi aged 11

Who wants a summer
To be a bummer
We can have fun
In or out of the sun
We can play
Cluedo or clay
We can go to our home town
With a smile not a frown
We can meet people of our own
Like grandparents or cousins
Have abundant of love and care
Play truth or dare
Eat ice cream
Melting into a stream
We can learn
To make make an urn
Or to learn Rubik’s Cube
Play cards at night
And happiness in light
All the new skills
And giving pills
To my grandparents
All the wonderful stories
About different legends and mysteries
I enjoy the most
The jokes I toast
