by Farah aged 8

One day there was a girl name flower Farah
and she went on a trip to Pakistan
She met some new people and animals
along with cows, goats and sheep
It meant they would get meat to eat
and send it to the poor people

Sammy Wammy

SAMMY WAMMY is my friend
but I don’t like him doing a back bend.
SAMMY WAMMY knows I’m doing this
but he says I’m the weirdest
I say that he’s the beardest.
He sneezed you see because there’s a bee
We’re in school right now so please
Don’t see this, SAMMY WAMMY

The Funny Poem

Clowny-wowny, is a clowny
Even though he passes boundaries
He smells like chocolate brownies.
He is as lazy as a daisy
He eats sweets and his horn beeps like crazy

War Poem

In my body flows the blood of Gallic
Bastille stormers and the soft, gentle
ways of Salish/Cree womanhood…

Open Your Eyes

2
by Farhaa aged 11

Open your eyes,
To a world which is just fine,
Open your eyes,
To the beauty of lifetime,
Open your eyes,
To feel good at all time,
Open your eyes,
To good,
Open your eyes,
To not feel blue,
Open your eyes,
To what seems like you

So many different ways to say it!
Usually hello is like to blow bubbles.

Spring Day

1
by Iliana aged 12

Soon, I will awaken to a spring morning.
I will listen to the birds sing melodically
and watch as they soar through an amber sunrise.
I’ll make a wish on every dandelion
and count the petals of pure white daisies.
Soon, I will roll down tall hills with fresh grass
Then lay still, gazing at the cotton clouds up above.
I’ll find that splendid spring season.
More so, it will find me.

Pictures in Ink

It’s cloudy night horizon over the sea
It’s stained squash on expensive clothes
It’s a burnt dry sharp forest
It’s the red silky smooth scales on a fish.
It’s black smoke bursting out of the chimney into the air
It’s long stretching seaweed waving underneath the water
It’s the ferocious crawling lava of an erupting volcano .

Refugee, Refugee

Refugee, refugee
How could this be?
Refugee, refugee
How come we have to flee?
Refugee, refugee
I can’t see
Refugee, refugee
All the smoke surrounding me
Refugee, refugee
I need some help, please help me
Refugee, refugee
Yes, that’s me

Yes, Your Valentine I Will Be

0
by Matthew Egharevba aged 8

I like your gorgeous hair
and your mint eyes are amazing
I think about your future and dreams
that hopefully will come true.
Yes, yours I will be, for eternity
our love will be so true.
Will you accept my Valentine’s letter?
I really hope you do.
