This competition is now CLOSED. Winners will be announced at the end of February.
Watch out for a new competition starting soon.
Write a poem that is in some way about nature. You might like to write about unusual animals, such as the bearded dragon, or about everyday animals, such as your dog, cat or hamster, mythical animals like unicorns or the minotaur, or imaginary animals, like the three headed buzzlebedebog from the planet Zog. Your poem could be about exotic plants, like the Rafflesia, the world’s largest flower, or about your garden or a local park. Other subjects could be mountains, or rivers, or forests, or the weather.
It can be written in any style: serious – perhaps featuring climate change, the melting glaciers and animals which are in danger of extinction; or funny – such as the time something wild in the woods stole grandad’s trousers.
We have six copies of If I Were Other Than Myself by the amazing children’s poet Sue Hardy-Dawson to give away as prizes to the best six poems. And we look forward to reading them all.
Write your poem in the competition box below. And make sure you include your email address so that we can contact you if you win. You don’t have to be come from the UK to enter but poems must be in English. And you must be aged between 3 and 18 years old to enter. Poems MUST be your own work.
The six winners, plus the best of all the poems entered, will be featured here in March.
The competition closes on February 14th, 2020.
Good luck!
