Overheard in a Tower Block by Joseph Coelho (Otter-Barry Books)

Wow! There’s some powerful stuff in these pages. All the poems are very good. Some of them are quite wonderful. After his CLiPPA-award- winning debut we expected more good things from Joseph Coelho; he has not disappointed with this exciting collection. Not for younger children, perhaps, but a must for any teenager (or adult) who loves words that are beautifully crafted to do more than paint pictures. Here is poetry that can make you smile and make you cry (actual tears) and really make you think. Lovely illustrations by Kate Milner enhance the work. A book to keep. It will go on my shelf to be read again and again.
