Mother Earth

by Harshita Das aged 10

Here is new world
With nature, a mother earth
With animals in forests
And birds in trees
And plants and animals
Within the natural breeze
Oh, Mother Earth
What a lot you give
Oxygen, food, paper, medicines
And a whole lot of things
We need to live
Oh Mother Earth, what a lot you do
Sweeping up the garbage
And making it useful too
Oh Mother Earth
You have trees all around
And owls sleeping in a day
And making no sound
And after all this
We still aren’t kind
I think it’s all about time
We humans change our mind
Let’s make a pledge
And do what I say
Lets not cut trees
And destroy the homes in which they stay
Save trees, save animals
