Last Hope

by Tiran Weerasinghe aged 12

Was it really worth it,
I used that drop of water,
Did I accidentally waste it,
I hope I didn’t do so.

No more waves on the beach,
Neither any sight of rain,
The last drop, we couldn’t reach,
Instead we felt pain and sorrow.

Why water out of all the other things,
It was the thing we needed the most,
The rest are dead- but one bird sings,
Not of pain but for the hope that is lost.
