Hide and Seek

by Harshita Das aged 12

I hide behind a happy smile
I wear a mask of indifference
I laugh out all the hate I get
I make jokes at my expense

I hid behind a happy smile
Until you came to seek me out
You swam up to the river I was drowning in
You were the only one who heard me shout

You searched for me
And I am finally not alone
Playing hide and seek
All on my own
