by Hufsah and Sumaya aged 11 and 10

Children play with ice
It is very slippery
We all love the ice

Children IS two syllables. Chil – dren. IN fact syllables don’t HAVE to have the exact number of syllables. We, in the UK, like to follow that rule, as it approximates the way haiku are written in Japan. But you will find lots of haiku, especially in the USA, that disregard it. It’s very interesting when you start looking into it.
